Heavy Vehicle Technician’s service and repair fire appliances,all the associated plant ie. Generators ladders and fans, and the service have a fleet of light vehicles. Technicians are trained in all areas of heavy vehicle mechanics and electronics, from engine and exhaust systems to air conditioning and security features. The duties of a heavy vehicle technician may include: Servicing vehicles – carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturer’s guidelines Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components You will learn all about servicing, inspections, fault finding, diagnostic work and the removal, repair and replacement of components. You will also learn how to use the latest equipment and technology to fix all problems. You must have a keen interest in the motor industry and be reliable and demonstrate excellent practical skills. You will have the ability to work quickly but also pay attention to detail and work well in a team as well as independently. This position involves block release to Stephenson College in Leicestershire where you will stay with a local family.
