We aim, through the Early Childhood service (ECS), to work with children, families, early years and childcare settings and partner organisations to help ensure that every child is supported to achieve his or her potential. These early years are when the foundations for future mental health, emotional well-being, intelligence and parenting ability are all set in place. The home surroundings, family life and parenting are all important factors in determining positive outcomes for children in the future.

You will encourage, facilitate and support full participation, particularly of families that do not find it easy to use Children and Family Centre services, and promote and encourage such participation at all relevant forums and with all partner agencies.

Working flexibly across a locality from a range of locations including those of partner agencies, you will provide an outreach service for children and families in line with the Childcare Act 2006, as part of children and family centres’ core offer (key elements of service delivery as required by Department for Education). You will also provide information and support to parents /carers and their children and act as point of access, signposting to the range of local services through schools, children and family centres, and other integrated services.

Services will be provided in partnership with families and in line with statutory guidance and County Council priorities. Children and Family Centre services aim to support families in making positive changes and enable children and young people to reach their full potential. Services are underpinned by a commitment to treating people as individuals.
