This is a key position within the team at the Wrenford Centre, a busy vibrant day service for adults with learning disabilities. Your role is to support customers with high levels of dependency and complex needs to meet agreed outcomes through participation in agreed activities and engagement in community activities. You will encourage and stimulate customers through the provision and delivery of outcome based care that promotes independence and enablement. As a grade 5 support worker you will be a positive role model, upholding and demonstrating excellent practice within the team and will organise and direct grade 3, apprentice support workers and volunteers. As a manual handling lead you will take a lead role in training and assessing staff, writing manual handling plans and risk assessments. You will be a key worker, writing reports and taking a person centred approach in preparing plans, monitoring agreed outcomes and working with carers, families and other professionals. You will also lead planned appropriate activities and sessions ensuring all customers are able to engage and achieve agreed outcomes; these include drama, dance, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Good communication skills and interpersonal skills are required in order to provide clear, consistent and concise advice and direction to other team members and to customers. You will have relevant experience, ideally with adults with learning disabilities and be qualified to NVQ level 3 in care or equivalent. As many activities are community based e.g. Swimming and hydrotherapy the ability to drive people carriers and mini buses is desirable.
