MSc Sports Performance Analysis with paid Rugby Union Work Placement (PGIR Ltd) Description 4 full-time places on the MSc Sports Performance Analysis programme at the University of Chichester, involving a paid work placement with PGIR. Closing date for applications: Tuesday 12th July 2016 Interview date: w/c 18th July 2016 Work Placement dates: September 2016 - May 2017 (with training days in August 2016) MSc course dates: September 2016 - August 2017 MSc Sports Performance Analysis This programme of study is designed for graduates seeking to develop specialist knowledge in Sports Performance Analysis.  The MSc Sports Performance Analysis programme is carefully aligned to employer needs and aims to provide the knowledge, skills and experience to successfully pursue a career in the area of Sports Performance Analysis.  The processes and theories underpinning performance analysis are explored, together with key practical competencies, all delivered in conjunction with a dedicated, intensive work placement offering invaluable industry relevant experience.   Indicative Course Content Core Modules Elective Module (choose 1) Advances in Performance Analysis Applied Techniques in Sport & Exercise Work Placement Biomechanics Applied Performance Analysis Motor Learning and Control Research Methods and Statistics 1 Independent Study Research Methods and Statistics 2 Research Dissertation Course Tuition Fees: The cost of the course is GBP 5510 (University of Chichester graduates are eligible for a 10% alumni discount).   Financial remuneration: The work placement will take place with PGIR Ltd.  The successful candidates will receive ca. GBP 8-10 per hour for the duration of the placement, and the number of hours will typically be ca. 40 hours pcm.   Please note the placement provider does not pay the tuition fees.  This is to be paid by successful applicants.      Performance Analysis Work Placement JOB DESCRIPTION PGIR are offering 4 season-long work placements in partnership with the University of Chichester for the 2016/17 season rugby. PGIR Ltd is a performance and analysis company providing professional sports organisations with consultancy and software services designed to improve efficiencies and provide insight into individual and team performance.  The work placement runs alongside the MSc Sports Performance Analysis at the University of Chichester, and is under the guidance of PGIR. The position is a part time commitment, filming and analysing Championship rugby matches. Each successful candidate will be assigned a team to code and analyse for the whole of the season. There will be feedback points during the year when successful candidates will be asked to present to all PGIR/RFU analysts and University of Chichester Staff regarding their team and what insights they have derived from the data. Coding templates and processes will be provided by PGIR and training days will be arranged in advance of the start of the season. Duties: * Film Championship matches when required using pre-determined codecs and capture rates * Make sure both teams have a copy of all angles filmed * Upload the footage to a data repository  * Perform a team and individual code on a Championship team each weekend using Sportscode * Export the coded timeline as an xml file and upload to data repository * Perform reliability checks and ensure that the data populating the website is accurate and matches what was collected * All footage and coding must be turned around in 36 hours * Feedback and present data to PGIR/RFU Analysts and University Staff at agreed feedback points during the season. Essential Requirements: * An undergraduate degree in a Sports-related course * Knowledge of Rugby Union, it's rules and current players * IT Literate - very good IT skills/ video-editing skills * Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills and experience * Reliable and enthusiastic with the ability to work well under pressure * Outstanding work ethic and ability to work and communicate as part of a team. * Good attention to detail * Available to work unsociable hours including weekends and Bank Holidays. Desirable Skills: * Good understanding of SportsCode software and Apple based products. * Experience of coaching or playing Rugby  Location - Flexible  Type of Contract - Fixed Term (2016-17 Season) Salary Range Package - Circa GBP 8-10 per hour dependent on experience, with (typically) ca. 40 hours undertaken pcm. Contract Start Date - 14/09/2016  Once the successful candidates have been selected they will need to attend 3 days training at PGIR in Bradford-on-Avon on operational definitions and protocols. This will take place in August in advance of the season starting.
