Safeguarding Adults Advisor (formerly Independent Chair) The Local Authority is the lead agency responsible for safeguarding adults. You will have the opportunity and responsibility for promoting an organisational culture that puts the needs of adults experiencing or at risk of abuse first, and which places a high value on professional practice standards and the pursuit of positive outcomes for adults in West Sussex. You will have a key role regarding the support and quality assurance of safeguarding adults work undertaken by Adults Services and will follow up concerns about practice standards as needed through managers and/or appropriate multi-agency safeguarding adults forums. You will provide specialist advice and support to Adults’ Services staff and other relevant agencies and organisations on matters relating to safeguarding adults and the implementation of the Sussex Safeguarding Adults Policy & Procedures. You will have a key contribution to development work in this specialist area including input to the design and delivery of training and presentations in local and county wide forums; quality assurance systems, including case file audits and learning from practice; and the development and implementation of local policy and practice guidance. You will work closely with the Adult Safeguarding Manager and other staff in the Adult Safeguarding Unit to deliver a high quality service to staff, service users and carers.
