A dynamic and experienced social work practitioner is needed to take on leadership of the Social Work Team at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready for a new challenge. The post is based at East Surrey Hospital. You will manage the West Sussex County Council social work team, working with residents of Crawley and surrounding areas needing a supported discharge from this busy acute hospital. You will also oversee the social work team based at Crawley community hospital.

You will have strong organisational skills, strong social work values, the ability to negotiate well and build relationships with health partners, while keeping good outcomes for customers at the centre of your practice. You will need to be a creative thinker, mindful of using resources effectively at all times. Experience of running a high performing team and the ability to develop the skills of qualified and unqualified staff will be important to the success of this post.

You will be working in a time of change, as social care and health move towards more integrated ways of working. This includes exploring ways of working such as “discharge to assess” and “trusted assessors”. You will need to be flexible in your approach and able to lead the team through this change, and you will also have the opportunity to influence the direction of change at a more strategic level.
