An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced person to assist the WSCC Outdoor Education Adviser with ensuring safe practice on educational visits and adventurous activities, as required by the WSCC policy and national legislation.

We are looking for someone with the ability to inspire and encourage headteachers, governors, schools, and youth organisations in West Sussex to develop outdoor, residential, environmental and adventurous activities as part of a broad and balanced curriculum and compliant with health and safety, safeguarding and other legislation. You will be an experienced practitioner and able to deliver traded training courses in specialist areas related to educational visits.

You will be required to demonstrate a passion for learning outside the classroom that is supported by qualifications and experience in leading educational visits for a variety of different activities and purposes. You will probably have been an Educational Visits Coordinator and have a track record of outstanding delivery of outdoor education and/or management in the field. You will be required to support the delivery of education visits coordinator (EVC) training and a willingness to develop skills for this area is essential. You will have often been in situations where you have had to demonstrate sound judgement and an ability to assess the benefits and risks associated with a visit both prior to the event and dynamically in the field.

For further information about the post please contact Martin Tomlinson, Outdoor Education Adviser by email or telephone, after 26th September, to discuss the post.
