Salary 30,480 to 33,106 Permanent, Full time Based at County Hall, Chichester but inspecting sites countywide 37 hours per week Interview date: 4th October 2016

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Implementation Team in Strategic Planning and help to deliver new and improved highway infrastructure in West Sussex. You will need significant experience in highways construction materials and techniques in order that you can inspect new road construction and highway improvement schemes at all stages of construction. You will be familiar with Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual and be able to apply your experience to review traffic management plans and monitor road works. You will have the organisational skills to ensure that works are delivered safely with minimum delay and disruption to the public. You will be responsible for planning and managing your workload and producing clear and concise written reports of inspections. You will need to be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems that arise at construction stage. You will have good literacy skills to produce written site reports for each site visit to provide a comprehensive record of the implementation of the works. The role will require regular interaction with developers, contractors and the public so you will need to provide excellent customer service, face to face, on the phone and by email. Qualifications Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or relevant experience. New Roads & Street Works Supervisors qualification.
