The topic for this research is "The effectiveness and impact of workforce development strategies on  staff in adult services."  This is a collaborative research project with the University Business School. The PhD student will explore aspects of the effectiveness and impact of workforce development strategies on staff in adult services. The actual topic area and research question will be developed in collaboration with the student, the organisation and the university. Evidence will be collected from real world Adult Social Care work settings via multi-site case studies and will  take into account the integrated health and social care context. The successful candidate will be supervised by Prof Janet McCray (Director of Studies) and Prof David Cooper (Business School). This student will sit within the Social Policy research area. Applicants should hold a minimum of a good upper second class honours degree or higher in a relevant subject area.  The hours are full time and the funding is GBP 13,000 and course fees for 30 months. Normal full time PhD candidature is 36 months and whilst attempts will be made to fund the additional 6 months, this may not be available and other sources of funding may be required.
