The Learning Resource Centres are placed at the heart of the University of Chichester at both our Bishop Otter Campus, Chichester, and the Bognor Regis Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Chichester during a period of growth and change as we develop our new Engineering and Digital Technology Park. We are seeking a Deputy Librarian to lead the development and implementation of library and learning resources, in support of learning, teaching and research through the co-ordination of the Subject Librarian team and the development of electronic resources. Reporting directly to the Director of Learning and Information Services the post holder will contribute to the strategic development of the library service and be responsible for the operational implementation of policies and projects in collaboration with colleagues from the Learning and Information Service and other professional service departments in order to achieve its strategic aims. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership qualities with experience of establishing close links and effective dialogue between academic departments and the Library Service. The successful candidate will be a qualified and motivated information professional, with an understanding of the higher education context affecting library services and developments in the wider profession. You will also have an enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable approach to teamwork and be able to offer friendly and supportive guidance to academic staff, students and visiting scholars. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential and part of this role will be to teach specialist information to undergraduate and graduate groups. This range of responsibilities requires an ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and solve work-related problems effectively.
