The Disability Advisor - Sensory Impairments, will work within the Disability and Dyslexia Service, part of the wider Student Support and Wellbeing team. You will be responsible for providing advice and support for students and applicants with disabilities, particularly those with sensory impairments. This will include participation in interviews and informal campus visits for prospective students, assessing the built environment and liaising with IT Services regarding accessibility options. You will require an understanding of the range of needs for students with sensory impairments as well as the support available, including aids, hardware and software.
The post holder will also provide advice, information and training for staff on Sensory Impairment issues, and take a lead in promoting improved access to teaching and learning materials across the University, requiring a proactive approach and excellent interpersonal skills. 
The successful applicant will require excellent IT skills and a thorough understanding of the current range of IT provision available, as it is envisaged that the function of this post will change in line with developments in technology.
