The position of Public Health Programme Manager for Workplace Health and Emotional Wellbeing is part of the Healthy Lifestyles team, within the Public Health directorate at West Sussex County Council (WSCC). Public Health is a progressive multi-disciplinary directorate, committed to improving health and tackling inequalities in West Sussex. It is the chief source of specialist public health advice and leadership in the field of health and social care; its main objectives being to protect and improve the lifelong health and wellbeing of everyone in West Sussex. To do this the Directorate works with a broad range of partners both internally and externally. These include district and borough councils, local businesses, the NHS, clinical commissioning groups and voluntary groups.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about improving the health of people who live or work in West Sussex.
As the post-holder, you will lead on the specialist subject areas of workplace health and emotional wellbeing, as well as coordinating the roll out of the Making Every Contact Count programme.
Additional duties may include providing support to drug and alcohol prevention activities, linking with the wellbeing hubs and coordinating Public Health campaigns, as required within the team.
You will work in line with national and local guidance, strategy and policies, working with colleagues from across a range of partner agencies.

You will work with the WSCC Health, Safety and Workplace Wellbeing Consultant to put in place policies to minimise sickness absence e.g. flu immunisations, stress management and NHS Health Checks.
You will work with the Health, Safety and Workplace Wellbeing Consultant to provide physical and emotional health and wellbeing information to staff - ensuring that is it up-to-date, evidence based and regularly reviewed.
You will be expected to facilitate the promotion of Public Health campaigns (e.g. Don’t Bottle It Up, Stoptober, and Men’s Health Week) to WSCC employees, to support and improve their physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
You will also work with partner organisations (including district and borough councils and local businesses) advising them on workplace-based physical and emotional health and wellbeing programmes, which are effective and needs-led.

You will contribute specialist subject area knowledge and expertise to the countywide action to improve emotional wellbeing.

You will drive the development and delivery of an implementation plan for the Making Every Contact Count programme in West Sussex.

You will also have excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
