About the Role

IT & Digital are looking for 2 new apprentices to join our busy Service Desk Team. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated person to undertake a one year Apprenticeship, learning and training alongside experienced staff. You will undertake qualifications, including an NVQ Level 2 vocational qualification, with a local training provider and have a mentor in the work place to support you.

We are looking for someone who is naturally confident with a customer centric attitude. Our ethos is to be EPIC. We see EPIC as;

- Being seen as having Expertise

- Having Passion in what we do

- Being curious to deliver Innovation

- Having the Customer at the heart of everything that we do

We aren’t looking for the finished article we will provide you all the skills and training that you need to become a fully competent and confident member of the IT&D Team.

We need from you a keen interest in technology, a helpful, communicative and courteous attitude, and a willingness to learn. If you are an excellent communicator you are 50% of the way there, we can teach the rest!

The position you are applying for will have a lot of interaction with our service users, this maybe fixing a smartphone for them, issuing out loan equipment, answering their questions on IT related issues, or completing training documentation.

In your first 6 months you’re likely to work with the Business Assistants Team issuing loan equipment, setting it up, and working on the 1st Line IT&D Team taking customers ICT calls, and working in our Lab deploying software to customers and learning how to build machines.

Some flexibility around working at other sites would be desirable as we have county based support locations in Eastbourne and Hastings. The majority of your work will be out of County Hall in Lewes. The IT&D Service Desk provides support to service users from 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday so expect some variation on start and finish times between these hours to accommodate service demand.

Are you interested in a career in ICT?

The apprenticeship training will give you the knowledge, skills and experience you will need for a future career in ICT.

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit.
