An exciting opportunity to join the business development team at CEGA as a SQL Server Developer, and to take on an important role helping to deliver software development services to the business. Working in a fast paced environment, you will be expected to undertake activities to support the business as well as being responsible for the delivery of new SQL Server based projects.

We are looking to attract a skilled SQL Server developer who will be comfortable supporting and developing new ETL processes of all complexities in response to requests from CEGA and our extensive client base. Working as an important part of a dedicated business development team, you will enjoy a key analytical and development role, actively managing SQL Server databases and associated processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and bring to production new ETL processes, and to improve and adapt existing processes.
  • Taking responsibility for the ongoing support and maintenance of the core CEGA claims handling solution. Contribute to the business processes associated with the support of the solution.
  • Taking responsibility for the ongoing support, development and maintenance of the CEGA core policy verification solution.
  • Contribute to the support of existing SQL Server applications and other core CEGA applications.
  • Working closely with and supporting the activities of the database administrator.
  • Ensuring that the Business Development Team Lead is aware of all operational issues within remit and advising as issues occur.
  • Working alongside the rest of the software development team in order to help deliver reporting and software solutions.
  • Supporting on-going change initiatives and integration into the existing risk and control environment, with a focus on improving procedures and processes that are centred on the accuracy and availability of data.
  • Cleanse data from a variety of source files including systems, text files or Excel etc. Extracting data using robust code, documenting rational, designing, proving and testing internal controls.
  • Deliver DPA compliant solutions and business processes in order to control the access to and the destruction of data within databases you are responsible for.

Experience & Skills:

You will need to possess a good understanding of software development methodologies, and be fully conversant with SQL Server (SQL and T-SQL) and SSIS. It would also be advantageous to have experience of SSRS.

Ideally applicants should be an experienced SQL Server Developer at graduate level, with a strong commercial background and financial services experience, who can demonstrate:

  • Experience creating, maintaining and optimising stored procedures, database and ETL processes (SSIS).
  • Solid planning/organisational and relationship management skills, plus a good understanding/experience of administering SQL 2008 R2 (and upwards).
  • Solid experience creating and managing enterprise level data warehouses in SQL Server.
  • Proven ability in designing complex queries in SQL Server, with experience using large databases.
  • Having an understanding of core DPA principles and managing the access to and destruction of data accordingly.
  • Relevant exposure to a similar regulatory reporting environment and proven data analysis expertise gained within a related Insurance business context.
  • Data visualisation and creation of dashboards and dynamic charts with data from SQL databases using Excel, SSRS and other BI tools (e.g. Tableau) would be advantageous.
