About the Role

Are you interested in a career in business administration?

This is an opportunity for a self-motivated person to undertake an Apprenticeship within the Community Learning Disability Team in Adult Social Care.

The Community Learning Disability Team is a front line service consisting of a large social work team who provide support and care services for adults with learning disabilities in East Sussex. The main focus is to support these adults to live independently within the community where possible and ensure they are safeguarded.

You will be learning and training alongside an experienced administration team based at The Bellbrook Centre in Uckfield. You will undertake a recognised Level 2 qualification with a training provider and have a mentor in the work place to support you. You will be trained and supported in a number of roles, including answering phone calls from service users, using databases, organising and taking minutes for meetings and interacting with a variety of different staff roles with the council. The training will give you the knowledge, skills and experience you will need for a future career in administration.

We are the largest employer in East Sussex and one of the largest in the South East, so working within our team will really give you the chance to be exposed to a wide range of work and to gain direct experience of operating within a large, complex organisation.

At the end of your Apprenticeship there will be an opportunity for you to apply for a full-time, permanent Administrative Support Assistant role within the team. So if you’re thinking about a career in business administration we’d love to hear from you - this could be the ideal first step for you!

Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

Equal Opportunities

East Sussex County Council is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitable candidates, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. All applications are treated on merit.
