The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will go into effect across the entire European Union and replace existing legislation. This will involve significant changes relating to obtaining consent, data subject rights and accountability as well as increased regulations for holding, storing and processing data. The Data Protection Support Administrator will work closely with the Data Protection Officer to support the University in meeting compliance obligations under the GDPR, effective from May 2018. Under the direction of the University's Data Protection Officer, the successful applicant will liaise with staff at all levels to collect and comprehensively document University activities involving the processing of personal data and will assist in identifying key risk areas or gaps in compliance.
With excellent interpersonal skills, the post holder will also be expected to deal with general data protection queries and provide general data protection advice and guidance as well as take a proactive approach in raising awareness of data protection across the University through a network of departmental contacts.
