This privately owned restaurant lies on the bank of the river Arun, it has an open veranda and wonderful views of the Arun Valley, probably the prettiest setting of any restaurant in the area. The original boathouse serviced and repaired timber barges which were used to ferry coal from Littlehampton near Arundel.

We are currently seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our management team and assist in taking our 70 cover restaurant to the next level.

The restaurant is open 7 days a week for lunches (service 12pm - 2pm) and evening service (6pm - 9:30pm)

A degree of flexibility in working hours is needed.

As Head Chef you will be required to be available, as necessary, to carry out the duties of the position. This will include managing staff, procurement, work rotas etc.

You must be a good communicator, be calm under stressful situations and always remember "The customer is King".


The Job Role:

• As head chef you will be overseeing the sous chefs plus casuals as and when needed.

• You will be responsible for ensuring we deliver quality and consistent food, with high quality ingredients

• Develop creative and interesting menus for the restaurant

• Catering for the daily busy restaurant operation with fresh food specialities

• Able to produce food for events including weddings, birthdays and conferences

• Competent in managing the costing of dishes, financial controls, and labour budget



The individual we are looking for:

• An experienced head chef or kitchen manager

• Demonstrate excellent motivational skills to get the best from your kitchen team.

• Experienced in working with fresh food, and focused on the use of ethically sourced ingredients

• Must be computer literate and able to use word, excel, email etc.

• Competent manager of people who naturally gains respect as a team leader.

• Posses good organisational skills with a structured approach and a good planner

• Able to lead the operation with a hands on approach, whilst effectively managing

• Sound knowledge of HACCP and posses a recognised health and safety certificate
