We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Venue Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of Snetterton Circuit, one of the UK's premier motorsport venues.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead an established team at a major sporting and events venue, with responsibility for its facilities, infrastructure, events and overall commercial performance. Your job title for this role will be Circuit Manager, and you will report directly to MSV's Group Operations Manager and Chief Executive. You will play a key role in ensuring Snetterton continues to operate and develop to the high standards for which MSV is renowned.
The role is varied and demanding. You will oversee the presentation and maintenance of the circuit, its grounds, buildings and facilities, whilst planning and managing the varied programme of activities taking place throughout the year. This ranges from trackdays and club racing to major promoted events attracting large crowds, including the British Touring Car Championship and British Superbike Championship.
You will also be responsible for operational and event budgets, financial performance, catering operations, maintenance programmes, development projects, health and safety and people management. You will have your own team to lead, and you’ll be able to draw on the experience and support of MSV's other Circuit Managers and wider Group resources.
Building effective working relationships will be an important part of the position, both within MSV and externally with race series, motorsport governing bodies, clubs, local authorities, tenants and contractors.
The Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and get the best out of those around them. Experience managing a large venue, event space, sporting or leisure facility would be advantageous, as would a background in grounds maintenance or construction management. However, above all, we are looking for someone who is operationally astute, practical and proactive, and who is prepared to take a hands-on approach and get involved at all levels when required.
You will need excellent organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Commercial awareness is essential, as is the ability to identify revenue-generating opportunities and make sound financial and operational decisions. You will be responsible for preparing event budgets and reporting on financial performance, so strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, are important.
Previous motorsport experience would be an advantage but is not essential. We are equally interested in candidates with relevant management experience from other sectors who can bring fresh ideas and a different perspective to the business.
Academic achievement is important to us, and we would welcome details of your educational qualifications, including GCSEs, A levels, degree or equivalent.
Working Arrangements
The demands of the event calendar mean flexibility is essential. You must be prepared to work weekends and Bank Holidays, particularly during the main racing season (typically March to October), as well as occasional early starts and late finishes. Given the nature of the role and the venue, you will be required to be based on site at Snetterton Circuit with occasional travel to other venues in the MSV Group. The Circuit is remote and you will need to travel around on site, therefore you will need a valid driving licence.
In return MSV offers:
- Competitive pay
- 31 days holiday (including Bank Holidays and Christmas shutdown)
- Access to our MSV Hub, giving you access to discounts at 100s of shops across the UK
- Discounted food and drink when working on site
- A staff pass allowing access for yourself and a guest to attend events at all MSV circuits (including BTCC & BSB)
- Access to 24/7 EAP and wellbeing services
- Training opportunities
- A workplace pension
- Free parking
