Students, Support and Information Services

As Student Money Adviser you will provide financial advice and support to all students at every stage from prospective student to undergraduate and postgraduate study. The postholder will work closely with another Student Money Adviser to provide the service and all associated administrative work.

With excellent communication skills and experience of providing advice and support, the post holder will provide a professional yet empathetic advice service to students and stakeholders (including current and prospective students, parents and other staff) on financial and welfare matters, administering the University’s support funds and emergency loan facilities. You will also liaise with external bodies such as Student Finance England, Student Loans Company, DWP, local authorities and Citizens Advice Bureau to proactively resolve matters and work with individual students to prepare personal budget plans and money management strategies. The successful applicant will need to be competent in Excel with the ability to work with financial data to calculate student entitlement in a timely manner and will be required to take a short test in Excel skills as part of the interview process.

The post holder will require attention to detail and strong organisational skills, managing a caseload of students, prioritising on the basis of financial and emotional needs, urgency and mandatory deadlines. You will be self-motivated, empathic to the concerns of students and understand the importance of integrity and confidentiality.
